Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani (born: 27 October 1943) is the famous scholar of Islam. He is in few islamic academic personalities.

Introduction

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani has served the nation as the Judge of Sharia Appeal bench of Pakistan High Court (1980-82) and the Federal Shariah Court from 1982 to 2002.

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani is vice-president of the Islamic Jurisprudence Academy Jeddah. He is also vice Principal of Jamia Darul Uloom Karachi.In addition, He is also working in eight banks based on islamic banking system as an advisor.

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani is the youngest son of Mufti Muhammad Shafi Uthmani (the member of the movement of Pakistan) and the younger brother of Mufti Rafi Uthmani.He was born at Deoband In saharanpur, UP, India on 27 October 1943.

Early Education

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani got his early education in Madrasa Ashrafia founded by Maulana Ehtisham Ul Haq Thanvi, the nephew of Maulana Ashraf Ali Thanvi. After that he completed his education in the direction of his father in Karachi from Darul Uloom Karachi. In 1961, in the same organization he specialized in the jurisprudence and then he moved to Jamia Punjab (Punjab University) and got his master degree from there in Arabic Literature. Later on he passed the examination of Law with high rank.

Permission of Hadith

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani has got the permission of Hadith from almost all the scholars of his time.

 

In those scholars, beside of his father Mufti Mohammad Shafi uthmani, Maulana Idrees Kandhalvi and Maulana Muhammad Zakariyya Kandhalvi are included.

Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmani’ s father always worried about your spiritual training, this is why he said to him to take the companionship of the great Sheikh of his time and Arif Billah Dr. Abdul hai and to establish spiritual connection with him. in a very short time he impressed his personality and took an oath of allegiance to an emir. After the death of him, Mufti is an authorized khalifa of him.

Services

Member of council of  Islamic ideology

General Zia Ul Haq (President of Pakistan) laid the foundation of an ideological body of the Islamic constitutional council in the 1973 to Constitution the Constitution according to Sunnah, Mufti Taqi Ahmad Usmani was among the founding members of the Council. He played a leading role in the preparation of Hudood ordinance for the implementation of the rules and punishments which Allah mentioned in the Quran.

He also presented several recommendations to eliminate the bankruptcy of interest based banking.

In the Quran, Allah has declared Riba (interest) as haraam. The basis of modern economic system is on the modern banking, whose entire structure stands on interest basis, in such condition this is a huge issue how to continue economic activities or business in Muslim countries, without disobey God.  But now, due to his tireless work, it has been resolved permanently. Mufti Taqi has set a systematic banking system in the boundaries of the Sharia that fulfills all the contemporary requirements.

The banking system, that presented Mufti Taqi, is being adopted very rapidly in the whole world after accepting by the Islamic jurisdiction academy.(Islamic Fiqh Academy). Now, dozens of Islamic banks are working on the principles of Mufti Taqi Usmani Sahib.

Many Canadian banks have earned in only one year, more than two hundred percent profits, by working on the principles made by him. Mufti Taqi himself is working as advisor of eight Islamic banks. Mufti  Sahib is also the chairperson of accounting for Islamic financial institutions and auditing and organization.

Chief Justice

Having completed his graduation in law from Karachi University, Mufti Taqi Usmani was associated with the Pakistani judicial system for a long time. He has been a judge of the Sharia Appeal bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the Federal Shariat Court from 1980 to 2002. He was also the Chief Justice of the Shariah Application Bench and also the acting chief justice of supreme court of Pakistan. In this period he has made several important decisions as a judge in which the interest is considered to be non-Islamic and it was his most famous decision. In 2002, the former dictator Pervez Musharraf had removed him from the post for the (same) decision.

 

Shaikhul Islam

He has been teaching Sahih Bukhari, Fiq’h, and the  principles of islamic banking for many years. Apart from this, various local and foreign universities periodically manage invite his as a visitor lecturer. He has been teaching for a few years in the University of Karachi Sahih Bukhari and delivering the lectures of Bukhari Shareef. Now the world  knows him as Muhaddith, that is why the Ulema gave him the title of Shaykh-ul-Islam.

Mufti Taqi Uthmani has played an important role in 1974 in anti qadiani movement directed by Hazrat Maulana Yusuf Binnori.

In this movement he has prepared a document  with Maulana Sami ul Haq which was presented to the Parliament against the Qadianis, in which the qadianis were announced non muslim.

After 9/11, he opposed the dictator Pervez Musharraf and  his policies by his columns and statements openly, when Pervez Musharraf presented Pakistan for sacrifice (as a goat) before imperial purposes.

He discussed openly about the amadement in the bill of women rights, and also in the Lal Masjid Issue and declared the government policy lie and betrayal.

He expressed a strong reaction on the cartoon issue of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), and came to the TV and condemned the devious fate.

Apart from it he is a great author of hundreds of books.

Molana Zeeshan Asad Israily Qasmi Sambhali was a famous Islamic scholar. He disliked using the word “molana” for the messenger said not to use it. Asad Israily was his pen name. So he is famous for this name.

He was a great orator, poet of Urdu and author. But he is famous for his writing skills and he was known as a commentator of the Quran.

Birthplace and family background:

He was born at Sambhal, a famous city for its Islamic scholars, In India in the decade of 50s of last century. He belonged to an educated family. His ancestors were also known as Islamic scholars who served the nation and education also for hundreds of years in the past. His father Maulana Habib Ahmed Israily and mother were also alims.

Education:

completing his early education at his home in the eyes of his parents, he had gone to the world-famous institute of Islamic education, Darul Uloom Deoband for higher education.  He had completed his education thereby getting the degree of Alimiyat and Fadhilat. After that, he had done post graduation from English.

Work:

He Had worked many years in Saudi Arabia as a translator. But he was a natural writer and a native speaker so he left the job as well as Saudi Arabia for India. He started writing and wrote few novels, some poems in many Urdu digests and magazines. He started some columns in these magazines and managed well for years.

But his nature forced to leave it all because Allah wanted something else from him so he went back to his hometown and started a series of Dars e Quran about 1984. This was the time when many people did not know about dars e quran. His only wish was to spread the message of the Quran widely. he wanted to involve more and more people in this work.

In starting he faced many problems. The people abused him, beat his pupils. But when people came in touch with him, he did not move back.

He orated the Quran for 20 years. He wrote about 15 books. He successfully managed As-Salam Magazine for 10 years and wrote hundreds of article and essay on contemporary topics and Islamic ideology.

Last journey

On 8th May 2005 before Maghrib Salah he left the world for forever.

Maulana Syed Abul Hasan Ali Nadwi was indisputably one of the greatest exponents of Islam in the second half of the twentieth century and because of his command over Arabic, through his writings and speeches, he had a wide area of influence extending far beyond the Sub-continent, particularly in the Arab World.

He was an eminent scholar of his time, immortalized by his encyclopedic work, Nuzhatul Khawatir, (in eight volumes) containing about 5,000 biographical notes on Muslim scholars, theologians, jurists, etc. of India, apart from other notable works. Syed Abul Hasan Ali was born in 1333 A.H. (1914 A.D.). Having lost his father at the age of nine.

He was brought up by his elder brother, Dr. Syed Abul Ali Hasani who practiced medicine at Lucknow. He specialized in Arabic literature at NadwatulUlama, Lucknow, studied Hadith under Sheikh Husain Ahmed Madani at Darul Uloom, Deoband, and Tafsir under Maulana Ahmad Ali of Lahore where he came in touch with Iqbal whose poetry left an abiding impression on him.

Besides literary and theological studies, Maulana developed a keen interest in Islamic history and also learned English in order to keep himself abreast of contemporary thought. He taught Arabic literature and Tafsir at the Nadwatul Ulama for ten years. After the demise of his elder brother, he became the Secretary of Nadwatul Ulema and subsequently as Rector he supervised both its academic and administrative management.

Apart from his long association with Nadwa (as a student, teacher, Secretary, and Nazim), he served on the Shura of the Darul Uloom, Deoband, chaired the Managing Committee of Darul Musannifin, Azamgarh and established the Academy of Islamic Research and Publications at Lucknow.

His notable Arabic work Maza Khasera al-Alamb’inhitat-il-Muslimeen was not only widely acclaimed but also carved out a place for him in the literary circles of the Arab world. Several of his works have since been translated into Arabic, English, Turkish, Bhasha Indonesia, Persian, Tamil, and some other languages. Karvaan-e-Zindagi, his autobiography in 8 volumes, and Purane-Chiragh (life sketches of contemporary personalities)

His biography of Syed Ahmad Shaheed, his biography of Hazrat Ali (KW) named Al-Murtaza and his Tarikh-e-Dawat-o-Azimat are his permanent contribution to Urdu literature. He was an Honorary Member of the Academy of Arts and Letters, Damascus and Academy of Arabic Language, Amman and served as Visiting Professor in a number of Arab universities.

Internationally recognised, he was one of the Founder Members of the Rabita at-Alam-al-Islami,Makka, (1963), and served on the Higher Council of the Islamic University,Medina, the Executive Committee of the Federation of Islamic Universities, Rabat, and as the Chairman of the Board for the Centre of Islamic Studies of the Oxford University. The lectures he delivered at Indian, Arab and Western Universities have been highly appreciated as an original contribution to the study of Islam and on Islam’s relevance to the modern age.

In 1980, he received the Faisal International Award, followed by the Brunei Award and the UAE Award in 1999. The Maulana was one of the founders of the All India Muslim Majlis-e-Mushawarat (1964), the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (1972) and the All India Dini Talimi Council.

To promote communal harmony, the Maulana became one of the founders of FOCUS which was later transformed into Society for Communal Harmony. He also established a movement ‘Payam-e-Insaniyat’ to preach the gospel of universal love and brotherhood. Abul Hasan Ali Hasani Nadwi died on 23 Ramadan, 1420 AH (December 31, 1999) in Raebareli, India at the age of 85.

One of his brothers is a heart surgeon and one is a zameendaar. He is a son of a famous Fudel Lord. Both of his parents have died.

His parents wished him to become a doctor. After matriculation, he was admitted to the college in Lahore and lived in a hostel with a number of friends. After completing his Higher Secondary School Education in Pre-Medical from Government College, Lahore.

He took admitted to King Edward Medical College in Lahore. He intended to do his M.B.B.S., but he soon switched to Islamic Education, and his focus shifted towards Islam.

Since his childhood, he lived a Relatively Modest Life and Religion was not a major part of his life and his family in particular. It wasn’t until he pursued his M.B.B.S. in Lahore.

There was one person who lived in his hostel. He was a member of Tablighi Jama’at who approached Moulana Tariq Jameel. He said that Tariq Jameel had kicked him (Tablighi) out of his room, a number of times. Besides it, there was a disabled person in the hostel who performed every salah in Masjid.

Tariq Jameel was inspired by that disabled person and thought about him how he performed every namaz even though he lived on the fourth floor and came to namaz on time.

The thought had done its work and that inspiration changed his life completely. At first, he went for three days jama’at. After his four-month, he decided to leave the study medical and become an Alim.

His parents became angry and called him a stupid idiot to leave his studies and become a Moulvi. His father ordered him to get out of the house and told him never to come back again.

He left his house and was admitted to Raiwand Madrasa. He then went on to gain Islamic Education from Jamia Arabia, Raiwind (near Lahore), Pakistan where he studied Quran, Hadith, Sharia, Tasawwuf, Logic, and Fiq’ha. Moulana Jamshed Ahmed was his first teacher.

In his perfect guidance, he spent almost 10 years in the Madrasah and became a complete Alim. To quench his thirst for knowledge, he mastered the ability to understand and fluently speak Arabic and traveled extensively to numerous Islamic countries.

Maulana Tariq Jameel: Characteristic

Most of his speeches are delivered in the programs of Tablighi Jamaat. He regularly delivers lectures and speeches encouraging people to follow Islamic values and principles and put them into practice in their everyday life.

Maulana Tariq Jameel has traveled extensively for this cause and delivered thousands of lectures all over the world. His charming appearance combined with a strong voice and a fine ability to deliver religious lectures soon catapulted him to fame within a few years.

He became one of the most profound and inspiring preachers of Islam in the Urdu and Arabic languages. This is why he is listed as the most popular speaker in the 2013-14 edition of the book “The Muslim 500”.
